Dornbracht International Holding GmbH
Founded in Iserlohn in 1950 by Aloys F. Dornbracht and his son Helmut Dornbracht - who, now in his 80s, can still be found in the production halls or in the offices, every day. The basis for the company's success lies in the invention of the extension spout, originally conceived for the kitchen, which in those days was the only water point in the house. The concept of a bathroom as a separate room did not yet exist, with the kitchen wash tub serving additionally as a bath. This all changed in the early 1950s with the onset of economic growth. A separate bathroom soon became standard, particularly in new buildings. This led to an increase in demand for bathroom fittings, which Dornbracht met with its classic standard fittings.
During the first 50 years of the company's history, distribution was initially aimed at the German market. However, it became evident that Dornbracht products could also be marketed successfully abroad. As foreign business gained in intensity new distribution offices were established in markets with particular growth potential. Today, 15 branches and numerous commercial agencies form an important main pillar for the company. 68 percent of the total turnover in 2010 was generated in foreign markets.
Dornbracht is one of few companies in the sanitation sector that manufactures 100 percent of its products in Germany. Furthermore, 90 percent of its suppliers come from Germany and over 70 percent from the South Westaphalia region. With its products all "Made in Germany", Dornbracht stands for consistently high quality standards and delivers the highest level of manufacturing quality. In addition, the continuous advances made by its in-house production innovation team represent the most important factor in the long-term security of the German site.
In relation to the company structure, Dornbracht also distinguishes itself through its innovative methods and high degree of flexibility. With the development of the "fractal factory", Dornbracht has created a module park, in which employees in a business segment from development through to manufacturing and sales work together independently of the rest of the company and accelerate processes. This concept has long been discernible through particular structural characteristics. At the head office in Iserlohn, instead of a classic new build geared to the long term, the individual functional areas are catered for by various large modules all around 720m2 in size. Among these are a technology module, a communication module and an innovation module where employees work on product innovations for the future.
