APID- Association of Professional Interior Designers, UAE, was honored to host the 24th General Assembly of the IFI and World Interior Design Congress 2009, in Dubai, from 7 - 12 November 2009 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Dubai, UAE. The IFI - International Federation of Interior Architects/ Designers is the apex world body for the profession and includes 70 member associations from 45 countries with over 65,000 individual members. The event was held over 6 days and included the IFI Board Meetings, 24th IFI General Assembly, World Interior Design Congress 2009, International Interior Design Exhibition, Professional and Student Competitions and will be the launch of the Festival of Interior Design to be held annually in the UAE. The theme of the event was ‘Celebrate Interior Design'. Participants discussed issues such as social responsibility, influence of technology in interior design, the role of tradition and culture, sustainability, the business of interior designers. The Congress also gave opportunity for new and upcoming talent by offering workshops and master classes for university students by well known professionals.
