APID elected member of IFI

The Association of Professional Interior Designers (APID) was elected as an Associate member of the International Federation of Interior Architects and Designers (IFI).
An APID delegation has returned to Dubai from Busan in Korea having successfully presented the case for the first professional interior design association in the Middle East receiving international recognition by a world body.
The President of IFI, Madeline Lester from Australia, praised the presentation made to the General Assembly by APID office bearers, President Ken Laidler, Vice-president Dr. John Alexander Smith and Director of Professional Practice, Hazem El-Khatib.
Ms. Lester noted that ‘the vote in favour of APID had been unanimous and that the APID presentation had confirmed the international standards of professionalism expected of a successful application'.
Ken Laidler described the election to IFI as ‘a significant step for APID in its mission of setting internationally recognized standards for its membership in the UAE and the Gulf region'.

The General Assembly of the IFI unanimously confirmed full membership status to APID at the 2009 IFI General assembly held at The Grand Hyatt Convention Center in Dubai. APID is the only Association member of the IFI from the Middle East.
